They all improve on shifting so I'd guess it is a personal choice thing. I've also ran an Empi quick shift kit on the Dormy before. I'm sure you love it and I prolly would too if I had one, but the Dormy runs a Scat and the Plump Truck has a Hurst. If Bill May was here, he'd prolly kiss you! Less of a "soup-bowl-stirring" action than the stock shifter The Empi shifter works fine in my 1966 split bus. Not sure about Gene Berg, although it is a great source of quality product so no doubt the shifter would be good.īut, I have a Scat shifter in my '67 and love the placement and the throw of it, plus the feel of the tee handle suits me too. If that cip shifter were the same price as this Berg I would still get the Berg. I have a genuine Hurst in my bug and like that but if I were spending the money on a new shifter it would be this one. On my bus I installed an empi quick shifter kit to my stock shifter and I like it.
